Should I Come To School Today?

The best way to protect our staff, students and community is NOT to come to the district if you are ill.  Please check the SWSD COVID Screening Flow Chart (pictured above and linked here) to determine if you or your student should go to any of the South Whidbey campuses.

South Whidbey School District's goal is to be back to school 100% with face to face learning. However, safety from COVID-19 is our first priority.  We are taking every precaution to avoid a 100% closure due to a COVID-19 outbreak and provide the best learning for our students while maintaining safety for all. Our maintenance and custodians are cleaning and disinfecting to keep our schools safe.  We are following and enforcing our safety plan when on campus. Masks must be worn at all times except when alone in classrooms. This applies to all and includes in hallways and restrooms, etc. Social distancing is critical, as is hand hygiene. To help answer staff questions, we provided staff with a series of Staff Reopening FAQ’s, a Staff COVID Preparedness Plan Handbook and a communication flowchart.  For the staff who have not reviewed these yet, they are available on our website under Staff Links.

All school districts are required to screen employees, students, and any other individual who will be at the school facility for more than 15 minutes, for signs/symptoms of COVID-19 (see the OSPI Washington Reopening Schools 2020 Planning Guide linked here). South Whidbey, along with many districts have worked with WSIPC, our data processing center, and a program called Qualtrics to help capture this daily screening in an efficient and secure method.  At this time, Qualtrics is still updating to make it a best practice for staff and families.  Therefore, as of October 1st,  we are using our Skyward Wellness Screening for individual health attestation/screening.

To access the Skyward Wellness Screening, students, families, and staff members must sign into their family or staff access in Skyward.  The Wellness Screening will immediately be on the home screen to answer and submit. Step by step instructions are available on our website linked here. If you are unable to access Skyward for any reason, you will need to sign a written health attestation at the school.

Daily,  before going to campus, ask yourself, did I complete the Skyward Wellness Screening for myself and my student?  We can all keep each other safe if we do our part.
